EDEN COLLECTION BY BANKE KUKU SPRING SUMMER 2024

Date:

This season’s Fashion Week started in Lagos with Banke Kuku SS24 in collaboration with Polo Avenue inviting us to Eden. This collaboration with Polo Avenue brought so much joy to my heart seeing the success it had in time past with Banke Kuku’s Runway debut.

It’s quite understandable why Polo Avenue the ultimate luxury fashion destination in West Africa which carries an extensive collection from some of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses will partner once again with Banke Kuku which is known for creating luxury loungewear that translates to occasional wear. The collaboration also aligns with Polo Avenue’s commitment to promoting and fostering growth in the Nigerian and African Fashion Industry thereby providing intense support to emerging and exceptional fashion brands in Africa through its annual event, the Polo Fashion Series.

Polo Avenue’s Vision is to increase global appeal and demand for excellent craftsmanship in the region and being part of the Polo Luxury Group with over 30 years of industry experience gives the company great leverage to carefully curate a selection of vibrant pieces that ignite fashion satisfaction to keep the region at the forefront of creativity, style and innovation.

Invitations were received and as we arrived at the venue I kept pondering to myself how Banke was going to interpret Eden.  This translation started on arrival at the venue, the entrance had a backdrop covered with Banke Kuku and Polo Avenue Logos which led to the corridor with the same backdrop and hanging flowers from the roof this served as a beautiful backdrop for guests to take pictures which transported us to a beautiful Eden garden.

Eden by Banke was a beautiful garden sitting beside the banks of the Atlantic Ocean, guests were ushered to their seats and served finger food, cocktails, and drinks while soaking up the beautiful scenery with the ocean breeze gently cooling the atmosphere with its calmness.

Each side of the runway was decorated with beautiful flowers in various colors and forms while the pillars were covered in new Banke Kuku prints. Adding to Eden were the beautiful guests mostly dressed in Banke Kuku outfits with smiling faces chit-chatting, and networking. The atmosphere felt cool, warm, happy, and joyous setting the tone for the show’s commencement.

GLIMPSE OF THE DECOR AT EDEN BY BANKE KUKU

We had our host for the show Eku Edewor,  beautifully dressed from the Eden collection in a red figure-flattering dress with side knit and thigh-high slit that was light and airy which Banke Kuku is known for. She took us through her journey with Banke, the brand’s growth, and what we were to expect from this collection.

The show started with soft music, a bit of bird whispers and then, the first dress came down the runway in a beautiful flowery print. The collection had so many beautiful additions to it in response to the request of the Kukutribe (Banke Kuku’s Clients) over the years. Banke delivered each print and outfit in a balanced way with nature in its various forms and colors, particularly things accustomed to Nigeria in an effortless manner such that everyone both local and international could relate to easily.

Most of the outfits had flowers such as Boungevillia, Birds and Ladybird prints on them while a new Kuku monogram print and colors were introduced. Aside from the silk and mesh fabric being a house staple, other fabrics were introduced, with some embroidery and beadwork. The signature Banke Kuku pouch bag was beautifully adorned in various sizes with a new shape added to the collection. It was an all-inclusive collection with a lot of layering, and different silhouettes, showing it caters to everyone from all corners of the world, for all occasions and every religion. The Partners for Eden collection by Banke Kuku were Polo Avenue, I Do Events, I Do Weddings, and Nazadi.

The event ended with a closing speech by Banke Kuku and host, Eku Edewor. We helped ourselves to more drinks and cocktails, more pictures were taken. Everyone talked about the new collection and what they’ll be getting for various occasions. It was nice to know that the Banke Kuku brand will be available at all Polo outlets. Leaving the show felt good and a great way to start Fashion Week.
